Tyler's Here!

On May 10, 2011 at 12:53 am, I woke up with really bad pains that I thought might be the start of labor.  The first pain lasted about 45 seconds.  It was then 28 minutes until the next pain.  I thought to myself, "I have plenty of time, I might as well try to go back to sleep and not wake Mike who has to work in the morning."  However; 8 minutes later the next came.  5 minutes later the next.  They were very close in time so I decided to go into the guest room and call my mom.  She was on the phone with me and I could not talk through the contractions.  My doctor told me at 5 minutes apart for 1 hour to go to the hospital.  By 2am the contractions were already steady at about 2 minutes apart.  I was shocked at how fast they came on.  I woke Mike up and told him to get ready and lets get going.  I told him I was 2 minutes apart and he slowly crept out of bed and decided he needed to shave his face before we left.  I am on the bathroom floor in tears as he shaves his face (he was still half asleep and does not even remember this).  Luckily I had gone to the doctor the day before and bags were already packed in the car for my doctor's appointment.  At 3am we left our house and went straight to the hospital.  I was yelling at Mike in the car for speeding saying we were going to get pulled over  but then he was also going too slow and needed to get me there quickly so I could get my epidural. haha.  There was no way of pleasing me.  However; at 5am my parents arrived and my epidural was given to me!  Thank the Lord! :)  From 5am til about 2pm we sat and talked, joked with nurses, talked on Skype, and tried to talk baby Tyler into hurrying up and coming out.  At about 2:30 the nurse said we were going to start pushing.  Mike and my mom were in the room with me.  Unfortuneately the umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck and his heartrate was dropping from mid 140s to 60s.  It was about to go to C-section when I asked for one more try.  With God's help that last try worked!  Tyler Daniel Kintz was born at 3:00 pm weighing7lbs 6oz and was 20 3/4 inches long! He came out with eyes wide open and was the most adorable thing I have ever seen!  It is amazing the love you have immediately!  Meme, Papa, Great Grandma Lillian, Aunt Courtney, Uncle Paul, Cousin Tristan and friend Alexa were all there to welcome him into the world right away.  The next week was a rough one for me as I was trying to heal but Mike was a HUGE help in changing diapers, getting bottles ready, and helping me get in and out of bed.  I appreciated all of the help and was so happy to have our little boy finally in our arms!!!!  We love you Tyler!
